About Us

In 1980 Ava White began tutoring children on a part-time basis in response to requests from parents and teachers. More parents and educators requested services and in 1983, the tutorial service was expanded into a full-time job.

Today Ava H. White Tutorials continues to grow, utilizing two locations and several consultant tutors who specialize in specific skill areas. Programs are individualized and carefully planned to meet the special needs of each student. However, the overall goal remains the same for each tutorial experience: to enhance the student’s self-image, potential and confidence by gaining new knowledge and skills. These build the framework for future learning, where the student is then able to use the skills on his/her own, independently studying with more efficiency and success.

Ava continues to tutor and work with students who have special needs. The addition of other private tutors to her staff has allowed the tutorial service to offer assistance in many additional academic areas. Tutors are well versed in elementary and middle school curriculum as well as high school and college-level subject areas.

All tutors possess at least a four-year college degree, and some also have advanced degrees in education or a field of expertise. Tutors attend workshops, such as Wilson Language and Lindamood-Bell to update their own skills and teaching methods. All must demonstrate willingness, enthusiasm and competency in individualized teaching.
